What is Milestones Ministry?

“Growing people in faith when at home and away.”

“…and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 6:7b

Milestones Ministry publishes resources that provide an opportunity for families and friends to gather and recognize God in the midst of a milestone moment in a person’s life.

A basic outline is provided that includes conversation starters, a scripture verse, and a prayer or blessing. These moments spent together nurture the Christian faith, strengthen relationships, and create the kind of bond that makes meaningful memories for years to come.

Why do we do what we do?

Why we do this ministry is answered with the first of the Five Principles of Faith taken from the Milestones Ministry Framework. The first is: “Faith is formed by the power of the Holy Spirit through personal, trusted relationships—often in our own homes.” The other four Principles expand on the importance of the First Principle.

For decades we have reaffirmed the biblical, historical, and modern research confirmation that faith is formed through relationships has been affirmed. Faith is a 24/7 reality for Christians. Sunday morning is a non-negotiable anchor in faith formation. However, it is not the only anchor. Faith needs to be nourished regularly, especially in special times of need. And, that special time of need often happens at moments beyond Sunday, weekly worship. It can happen “when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise,” to quote Deuteronomy 6:7. T

The home is and always has been a central place to support the life of faith.

What is the history of Milestones Ministry?

In April 2014 Vibrant Faith Ministries chose to pursue more of a leadership consulting based ministry and decided to spin off the Milestones Ministry portion of their ministry into its own separate ministry. After some quick and hectic planning, Milestones Ministry, LLC was established on 1 August 2014 in the State of West Virginia. Former Vibrant Faith Ministries staff member, the Rev. Dr. David W. Anderson, and Associate for Vibrant Faith Ministries, Deborah A. Streicher, were working on revising and updating an existing Milestones Manual at the time. David had authored several leadership books available in our store. Debbie had hands-on experience working on staff in a congregation with a focus on faith in the home. And both David and Debbie had coached and done consulting for many years with congregations across the United States, in Australia, and in Canada. They became a team together with their spouses to help Milestones Ministry grow.
